love is a verb | Fairfield County connecticut family photographer

I was listening to a podcast recently, One Extraordinary Marriage, and in it the hosts were speaking about being the change you want to see in your relationships, and they said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“love is a verb”

It made me really think about my own family life and my marriage, and how easy it is to forget that love requires daily action.

Love is not sitting around and expecting it to be there.

Love is not something you find once and effortlessly keep forever.

Love is not something that you either have or your don’t.

Love IS something you do, something you give, something you practice everyday.

Love is something you cultivate and the more you give it, the more you will get it back.

So, what does this have to do with photography?

Well, the thing is, love is not sitting pretty on a blanket and smiling at a camera either. Love is not trying to look like that beautiful, perfect pinterest family. My greatest goal is to capture your love in my lens, and that’s going to require us to take action. You’re going to laugh, play, cuddle, joke, race and hold your people close…whatever love looks like to you. Don’t worry I’m going to help you every step of the way because I know it’s hard to show love on demand especially when there’s a camera in your face. Just come with an open heart, let go of your expectations, and remember that love is a verb.

I’ll take care of the rest.
